Let me tell you about my ride on the number 9 bus from Olympia to Hyde Park Corner yesterday.
I carry a rucksack as a matter-of-course nowadays. It is de rigeur equipment for the U.P.S.E.T. (Urban Paki, Stigmatised, Excluded & Targetted). My rucksack doesn’t have any explosives or detonators in it. It never has had, never will. Of course, that doesn’t stop loads of people from thinking that it might. These sheep, their intelligence moulded by the media, even the supposedly clever amongst them look at me nervously, accusingly and hatefully. That’s right, because of course, I did it, didn’t I? Or was it the paki next to me? Because we all look the same, right?
I got on the bus and went upstairs. I sat near the back. Nobody sits at the back of the top-deck of a double-decker bus nowadays except foreigners and the U.P.S.E.T. I removed my rucksack and sat down. A man on the seat opposite, wearing a rucksack, decorator’s clothnig and suspicion, turned to me and asked loudly: “What’s in the bag?”
Here we go I thought. I took a deep breath and bought some time for more thought. The whole bus now had his attention. We had an audience. I could feel the tension crackle up a few notches on the Sphincter-Scale.
“What’s in yours?” I answered.
“Painting tools. What’s in yours?”
“Why are you asking?” I was still buying time.
“I work as a security guard. Bags make me nervous nowadays”
“So why did you ask me, do you think I’m a terrorist?” I was cross, but firm and in control. I wondered if anyone on the bus would give a shit that I was the one being targetted because of media bulslhit, police bullshit and politican bullshit when half of them had rucksacks. Only one man half-cocked his head, but everybody else just fidgeted, waiting for the outcome. Would I scream “ALLAHU-AKBAR!!!!” and detonate, or would I just meekly get off the bus because pakis and Muslims are as welcome a sight in a public place as a circle of shit on a wedding cake.
“I didn’t say that. Bags just make me nervous. Bombs and all that.”
He was just a sheep, he didn’t seem like a bad man, so I answered vaguely “I have my work stuff”
He went through his phone, as if to call the police I thought, or perhaps the Anti-Paki-Hotline or maybe he was just calling a friend. Maybe he’d just ask the audience on the bus for a 50/50. He showed me his phone “that’s me, you see, I work as a security guard”. It looked like him in a security outfit. I wondered why he was painting and decorating was part of his “job”.
“If anything was wrong, I’d just call the police” he continued
“That’s understandable” I said, non-commitally, loudly and that was that.
I wanted to continue, but I had nothing to say. What could I say? The myth is complete. This is all a conspiracy takes. Why did no one say “why are you giving him hassle”? When three men attempted to beat and rob a friend of a friend at Kings Cross station recently and he managed to finally defend himself despite acid in the face, where was the fucking Blitz spirit then?
The people who think conspiracies or cover-ups are impossible are deluding themselves. People aren’t interested in the fucking truth. The majority just want to believe in a common story. They don’t want to be excluded. They want to be part of the pack. If the whole country believes that it was a suicide bombing, despite zero evidence, that’s right, ZERO evidence of suicide bombing, because the police have expressed doubt in it themselves, then who will stand up and say anything else? And if they did, who would believe them? When it is that simple to deceive the majority (and who cares about the apologies printed a decade later in 4 point Gothic script in a section of the paper that nobody reads) - then what is there to cover up?
Nobody takes sides. The thugs win.
The innocent fathers get kicked to death by a gang of teenage thugs. Nobody helps.
Drunken louts in every street centre. They turn the city that tax-payers pay for the protection of into no-go areas.
Drug-assisted rape in every pub. Men use mobile phones to video the rape instead of to call the police.
Is this the set of values that Tony Blair and that two-timing-Currie-porking-sweaty-lipped-cunt John Major hold so dear? Which world are they living in?
All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing. You can’t actually blame the good people. They step in, to help, they get killed. That’s why people mind their own business. They have little context, and a history of set-ups and scams that involve con-tricks, and when they help, they are alone, and usually get their heads kicked in. Best just stay out of it.
So what will happen next? I am holding my breath waiting to get jumped by some brainwashed do-gooder looking out for pakis with rucksacks. I mean, fuck it, if they’re executing Brazilians in jean-jackets, what fucking chance do the rest of us have?
I wonder, if a paki, any paki, gets kicked to death on a street in this country, who will help?
The desire to cling onto the media-reported story is deeply ingrained in the psyche of people. It is a common story, a thread that runs through the country from the past to the future, that people can cling onto and believe in. The country is more about what was in the papers, and what happened on Big Brother and Pop Idol than any political event or God forbid, the truth. This is what defines the shared idea of what this country is. Not so much a case of “History” as “Whostory?”. The people will always believe in the suicide bomber theory because it is easier to do so, because it’s been in all the papers, because everyone’s seen the papers, because that’s what the editors want people to see, because it’s easier to remember the headlines than it is to find the truth. It has ever been thus.
Oh, the guy on the bus? I wanted to point out to him that 5 out of 8 of the patsies, I mean suspects, I mean CONFIRMED PAKI SUICIDE BOMBERS OF THE EVIL IDEOLOGY OF ISLAM WHICH MUST BE DESTROYED were actually black and that perhaps I had more right to ask him if he had a bomb on him, because ironically, in this arse-about-tit situation, he was black. Thanks mate.

I love the way you use your race as a way to act like a victim. From what i’ve read on your website you would think there is a major terrorist alert going on. Oh you mean there is? Well wake up why dont you because the terrorists involved are not white and they are not black. They are pakis just like you. The day i meet a black guy called muktar el habib im going to think to myself, this guy is just a crazy paki. You mention 5 of the bombers are black, you know they are not the same kind of black that is from London. These are insane paki blacks that need to be deported immediately. You might laugh at this but you know its true. Whats with the conspiracy nonsense as well? Its pretty evident these cowards blew themselves up even if they were willing or not. They are still pieces of crap in the eyes of the world for killing innocents. Why would you even try and debate it? Mr Suspect Paki, here is my question for you. If you are so pissed off about a black man questioning whats in your bag on a London bus, why didnt you openly say “Im a London Paki but i hate the bastards that blew up my fellow Londoners”
or are you such a scared arsehole that you have to believe conspiracy theories that frankly sound so ridiculous i feel the need to return to your website to read jokes. The black bloke that asked you what was in your ruck sack was a proper londoner. You are obviously not a proper londoner or else you would not have sounded so indignant when challenged. You sir, are an ignorant rabble rouser not unlike a certain Adolf Hitler but in paki form.

Well said Ash! Spot on Mate! Tell me something also .. How come we have all the older generation ‘Paki’ Mums and Dads winging that “We cant understand it!?” .. and .. “Its not us! .. Its the younger ones!” .. As the way I see it, this vile cowardly hate, must have come from somewhere after all! .. and maybe its just a coincidence but how come when the misguided animal that blew up the number 30 bus, and sent himself straight to hell at around 9.45am .. How come his parents reported him missing some 15 minutes later !!? Strange that eh!
I know its becoming a rather over used cliche but .. The backlash really is coming! .. and I fear sooner rather than later!, .. and these animals that laugh at us while they gain asylum, rape our benefit system, only to blow up the hand that feeds, houses and clothes them .. Must be aware that we, generations and genarations removed BRITISH, are rather good at defending ourselves .. subsequently going on the offensive to devastating effect! History records one such similar happening when we did exactly that .. those dates being 1939 - 1944. Our Grandparents also taught us a thing or two I can assure you!

I love the way….
Yes i will use that as my opening line when i have something to say. Anyway, i love the way there are no conspiracies when arresting several paki blacks that have very close ties to bombing the London Underground and have names like Mohommed El Hasib? Why are these names prevalent? Maybe its because they are scum of the earth and have no problem killing innocents. Why is THAT Suspect paki? Exactly what are YOU going to do about it? Moan at Londoners looking at you suspicously? Im sorry, i mean WHITE/BLACK people looking at you with suspicion? What are YOU going to do about it instead of acting all pissed off? Are you going to look at your own race and say “Hang on an minute, Abdul from Somalia seems a bit pissed off at the mosque.” Of course you wont. Friday is the big day isnt it? Why not pay attention instead of blaming everyone else. I bet this crap could have been avoided but oh no, its Tony Blairs fault of course. he should have known this would have happened. Bombers from Leeds. LEEDS of all places. Anyway, i cant really blame you. The true paki is only interested in selling me, the white man a bag of out of date crisps. The new generation of Religious zealots is only interested in worthless pursuits thus mirroring their own (worthless) lives.
Ash 07.30.05 at 9:37 am
Now that we have all 4 bombers in custody is this NOW a conspiracy? Or do you finally recognize there might be some kind of attack on the UK? Well hang on, you actually live in the UK so hopefully you would be anti-terrorist. I say hopefully because you dont half saund like someone with a MASSIVE CHIP on your shoulder. What happened? Did a little bird turn you down when you were dying for a shag instead of a wank?
If thats the case, dont worry, theres plenty more fish out there. Please do us all a favour, Jump into a fast flowing river, its quick, easy and no-one will care. The fish may even like the taste of turmeric (But i doubt it)
Shahid 07.30.05 at 12:25 pm
Dear “ash” and “tezbritandproud”.
Please apologise for your racism and faith-hatred and I might perhaps respond. You’ll get answers to some of your points.
You do not have permission to call me “paki”. If you don’t apologise, without reservation, I will delete all of your present and future comments (your IP is logged) and present the ones that were forwarded to me to the police who are just as interested in your kind of hatred as any you might be accusing the “bombers” of.
TezBrit&Proud 07.30.05 at 3:00 pm
You have got some Front mate! You post a message that spouts Gibberish from start to finish .. Trying to act the Martyr ..”Oh dear Poor me!” .. and expect the like of myself and Ash, who love our country to sit by and just take it!!! Naahhh! Dont think so! .. and by the way, I think that you will find that in this country, it is usually assumed that if a person is happy to call himself, ‘Fred’, ‘Smelly’, ‘Happy’, ‘NotToBright’ or even ‘Paki’ .. That those noting this will feel at ease to do the same.
Oh yes! and one more thing! .. One of my best friends since the age of 5 is from Pakistan! .. and he is a muslim .. So dont start with all of the ‘Divert The Blame Attention’ stuff with me! Stop feeling sorry for yourself, and recognise these animals for what they are! Misdirected, Not too bright and without doubt evil, murdering animals! End of story!
Stef 07.30.05 at 3:49 pm
@Ash: Since when do you get to decide what a ‘proper Londoner’ is? I’ve lived in this city all of my white life and don’t recall voting to put you in charge of deciding. What are you credentials to speak for my city? As it happens I get a lot more grief from chippy black guys who hate me for being white than any ‘pakis’ I’ve meet but I still wouldn’t take that as a reason for damning all black guys.
@tezbrit: The war ended in 1945 not 1944 and hundreds of thousands of asians volunteered to protect this country and its empire in that war. A shit load of them died doing it
The mother who reported her son did so 12 hours and 15 minutes later not 15 minutes later, so does that prove whatever you were getting at was wrong? The initial report was vague over whether she called AM or PM. Given the precision that’s normally used I’d say that was deliberate so that people would fall for the line of thinking you’ve fallen for. Are you going to take back what you said now?
I’d agree that Shahid is sounding pretty chippy on these pages. I don’t condone it but I understand it. Pouring vile, anonymous abuse on him ain’t going to help anyone.
And as for conspiracies. Whatever you believe, you’re going to end up buying into one or another. Just because he doesn’t currently agree with yours that no reason to talk the way you’re talking. I haven’t read anything here that condones the bombing.
All I’ve read is someone saying that he personally needs to see more before he knows who to condemn and why. Personally, I agree with him. I’ll be fucked if I see this country lead down the garden path yet again by a ruling party that can’t remember what the truth is anymore.
How does that justify the kind of shit I’ve seen written here?
Shahid 07.30.05 at 4:44 pm
Can someone please tell me WTF “chippy” means?
Stef 07.30.05 at 4:55 pm
as in ‘I’ve got a chip on my shoulder’
Stef 07.30.05 at 5:14 pm
… and before we get into the merits of whether you chip is well founded or not let’s be honest here - this blog is going to be like fly paper - the title, some of the themes you’re touching on, the stance you’re taking. It’s going to attract a certain kind of attention. It would be good, and British, if that led to a fair discussion of opinions - that’s what 1939-45 was all about but, sadly, it doesn’t always work out that way.
I think I understand where you’re coming from and what you’re trying to express. I don’t pick up the anti British sentiment or implied support for terorists that others seem to do. There’s shock and concern here but no hate.
I wish I could say the same for some of the comments.
Shahid 07.30.05 at 5:40 pm
I named my site way before any incidents. It acquired a new resonance after 7/7 and yes, it was bound to attract some pretty vile people.
Being “anti-British” would mean expressing self-disgust. Now it’s OK in general for white people to do this when we do something shameful, like executing innocents on tube trains in a very dodgy way, or raping, torturing and murdering people all around the world, but if a paki does it, he becomes an infidel or a traitor. This is my essential point.
I don’t even hate the racists here. I grew up with them. I have empathy for their fear. I spent many an hour listening to racists as a child and gradually, slowly, carefully, convincing them that I didn’t represent a threat to them, that I was as much part of the fabric of the country as they were and my skin colour should no more be an obstacle to harmony than the colour of their hair.
We should celebrate differences, not use them as a wedge to call some sections of the community traitors.
Look, the KKK have essentially Christian ideals and a Christian ethic. Should I hate all Christians and villify them as murdering racists because of the KKK? Of course not. Again, my point is that it’s not really about hating the faith. And the recent commenters have made it clear. It’s about being a paki. The racism and mistrust has always been there, and there’s nothing further I can say or do to convince people me and millions like me are not the enemy. And frankly, age 39, I’ll be fucked if I’m going to continue being an apologist and justifying my existence, my faith, my roots, and anything else that a white or nowadays it seems, not even a black person has to do.
My own PM calls an aspect of my faith an “evil ideology”. The Met chief calls parts of my community “lunatics”. Can you imagine them saying the same about Jews or Christians? Or blacks?
Now every ignorant racist has free rein to call all of us evil lunatics whilst accusing me of martyrdom and victimhood.
It bothers me when people say “I’m not racist because my mate is a paki or a nigger” or whatever. People like that don’t understand racism. And they have certainly never been victims of it and so could never ina lifetime understand. It takes enlightened people like you, lordmlard and many others here to even begin to reach out and try to understand reality. Proper truthseekers. More power to you.
I’m sure a lot of these ignorant and racist commenters are actually lovely people. I’m sure if we sat in a room and talked, I’d quickly disabuse them of any notion that I’m an infidel and I hope that they would disabuse me of the notion that they’re racist.
Stef 07.30.05 at 7:01 pm
What can I say? I agree with everything you say.
On the question of people abusing blacks/ jews/ christians in the same way, there’s an underlying aspect to what’s going on in the UK right know that most people won’t even touch.
The relative silence of the Left.
Not being politically aligned myself, I always thought a large proportion of Lefties were hyprocritical tossers and I’ve seen nothing this month to change my mind
One of the reasons why Muslims are ‘fair game’, aside from the association with terrorism, is that their faith is essentially conservative and they follow a strong moral code. Traditional Muslim views on gender roles, homosexuality and belief in God send the Left barmy but at the same time they can’t say anything for fear of appearing to be not ‘inclusive’.
It’s not just racists who have issues with Muslims it’s supposed anti-racists as well.

i love the way BLACKS now feel this is their chance to feel apart of the white community or feel that they are part of ENGLAND , that shit makes me laugh hahahaa, what the fuck all these blacks feel they have to make racist marks against pakis to be apart of white society!! at the end of the day sorry blacks but the whites are going after you next and dont watch it because us stans can look after our selfs although blacks and stans togetha we can run tingZ .
de 08.01.05 at 5:33 pm
The whites have already “gone after us” so to speak. In fact most of the eighties were potmarked by such events. Nothing new there. Any black person older than 30 really should know what the score is.
Sadly, the statistical spread of racism isn’t unique to the white community, as is witnessed in this blog.
Shahid 08.01.05 at 9:36 pm
Racism is everywhere. However, this is a “white” country whatever the hell that means and institutional racism certainly works against browns and blacks most of all.
Pro rata, I think more browns and blacks are being attacked, killed, tortured, framed etc. than whites. And yes, anyone over 30 should really know the score, though being over 35 is even more relevant.
Anonymous 08.03.05 at 9:29 am
Brilliant article, its good to hear from the media created other side. The news makes me alternatly laugh and cry as the poor sheeple are told what to do, watch on the idiot box and who to hate.
I hope we can all survive this latest elite generated hate fest with all our body parts intact.
From a wised up old white guy who’s finding it hard to believe in anything much these days
Shahid 08.03.05 at 9:38 pm
Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate it.
The reason this all hurts so much as I have seen all British people as my own kind. Now, a larger and larger section of British people are saying I am an infidel and don’t belong here - some are even suggesting that I leave the country. My country.
Adam 11.26.05 at 9:25 am
Why bother leaving a comment on a website to abuse someone speaking his mind? He’s only discussing what’s going on in today’s world. I’m a ‘white’ guy if I need a label, not religious at all. As a molecular biologist I can show any racist DNA proof that we all originated in Africa around the Congo. So why do people leave comments on this site that talk about skintypes rather than ideologies?
Nice site Shahid.

I came across ur article as I was conducting research on an essay for the persecution of visible minorities. I was quite apalled to read about ur experience on the bus. Being a paki myself i find that ridiculously pathetic. To start off, I spent most of my childhood in london before residing in vancouver, canada. Having lived here over 10 years I’ve never run into something like urs; sure u get those dirty looks but nothing compares to ur mistreatment. When on holidays i occasionally visit my hometown, hounslow, uk. But to my surprise it aint the way it used 2 be, like years ago. It has changed and ur seenin more hate and anger in the public eye. ppl r jus 2 insecure these days and have 2 point the finger at every stereotype. Great story,
JammyD 02.03.06 at 8:31 pm
Why are you using your race as an excuse to become a victim? Yes you may be a ‘oaki’ but at the end of the day you need to get over it! Im white and if i was about to blow up a bus or woteva took my linking the police would have no problem in shooting me. Yes they did kill that brazillean dude but at the end of the day he’s visa had expired and without sounding flippant or woteva he shouldn’t have been in the country if he didn’t have a visa and at the end of the day it was a mistake and it could have easily been anyone else that looked like their suspect. it’s just a case of the wrong time and place. So to sum it all up, ‘pakis’ woth rucksacks will be frowned upon because of recent events but thats the way the world works
