The recent earthquake in Pakistan has had me upset, relieved, angry and confused in equal measure. I have been active in another forum about this issue, where an element of religion and sectarianism has crept in, leaving a rather bad taste in my mouth. The issue requires more context than anyone has time for here, so let’s just say that my family back home are fine and that it’s upsetting to hear that tens of thousands of children have seemingly perished.
What’s bothering me is that very little cash has been promised from us in Britain, with much of it seemingly from the people who have family back in Pakistan. It will be interesting to do an analysis on the donation figures for various countries, but I will leave that as an exercise for the reader.
It really has been the year of disaster. Earthquakes, tsunami, hurricanes, landslides and that’s just the “natural” stuff… it’s enough to make the “end days” proponents squirm with anticipation.

Unless you know where your money is ending up, dont bother. I dont trust te presidents relief fund or any organization that sits outside the country and asks for donations. Their donations are not ontime and are at places not required.
Can you believe this, they only set up a base camp because NGO’s came to work. That useless army and its picture perfect General havent done anything except making the choppers fly above the helpless people and not even giving them food till now.

Well I gave money to the Tsunami appeal and since they had plenty left over I don’t see why they can’t use it for other disasters.
Anyway, why would people in Britain really cae about a few Pakis who are all muslims. The Islamic charities only care for their own so I figure white britons should do the same.
Also, when Britain gave loads to the Tsunami appeal an Islamic charity spokesman went on TV to say how muslims had given proportionately more (obviously because muslims were victims) so if they want to point score and claim to be more generous than white britons let them get it all from muslims
