The death of six members of a Canadian-Lebanese family in an Israeli air strike has sent shockwaves through Canada’s large Lebanese community. Ali el-Akhras, a pharmacist from Montreal, was on holiday with his wife Amira and their four children in the Lebanese village of Aitaroun, about 50 kilometres south of Beirut.
Amira, the children – aged one to eight – and their uncle were all killed when an Israeli missile struck the house in which they were sheltering. Ali remains in critical condition along with two others.
An estimated 40,000 Canadians remain in Lebanon.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper offered his condolences to the families of the victims but he refused to criticise Israel or question its use of force.
He said it was the kidnappings of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah guerrillas that started the conflict and said an escalation was “inevitable”.
But friends and relatives of the Canadians killed in the Israeli air strike have accused the Conservative prime minister of not doing enough to protect Canadians in Lebanon.
They also accused Mr Harper of not caring about civilian lives.
Question for Mr. Harper:
If Canadian Jews had been holidaying in Lebanon, would you only then have urged restraint on the part of Israel?
Another question for Mr. Harper:
Under what conditions does the taking of civilian life become unacceptable to you?
I put it to you Mr. Harper, that you are a racist and therefore worthy of contempt. Not only are you a racist, but you are a hypocrite and you are a paid-up, card-carrying Ziophile. You didn’t care about those people because they were not white Canadians. The Lebanese are fair in colour, but it doesn’t matter, they have names you can’t pronounce very well and they speak a language you don’t understand, though I’d venture to suggest that you don’t understand Hebrew, but that’s besides the point.
Dear Mr. Harper. Due to your utter lack of humanity, your lack of decency, your lack of concern that your own citizens have been murdered in cold blood in defiance of all decent norms, you sir, are my avowed enemy and an affront to all decent human values.

Yes that’s right soft bollocks. Have a pop at anyone except the bloody idiots that decided to start lobbing missiles at a nation they knew full bleedin’ well was going to defend itself. I don’t see you criticising hezbollah. I also find it hard to believe at all that the Lebanese government didn’t have a clue that Hezbollah was running loose in Lebanon with 12000 plus missiles and were about to start lighting them up. So it didn’t occur to them to let their people know it might be a safe idea to get the f*** out of the way?. As if they didn’t know what was coming next?. Do me a favour!.
The comment above (by Wishbone) deserves a reply but I will leave it to you to do it. As for Steven Harper, it is apparent he neither has the intelligence or the courage to see the reality of the situation. The convenience by which people believe the skewed, Israel biased version of news is very surprising. Little effort would reveal that this whole incursion in to Gaza and Lebanon by Israel was pre-planned and is part of larger plan to go after Syria and Iran.
