As for Christians in Afghanistan, well what do you think the Christians have been doing in Afghanistan and Iraq for the last few years? That’s right; bombing and looting and raping and pillaging and stealing and killing and genociding. I admit, that’s something Western countries have excelled at over the centuries.

E4L, if you are monitoring this thread for a response, here’s one. I am white and English, as are several generations before me, as far as I know. So I too could, if I wished, sign myself as “English For Life” – I am as British as you are. But unlike you, I recognise the Muslim author of this blog as British too, just as I recognise the Britishness of the Muslims who have been living alongside us in the UK for generations. You have, I suspect, allowed your racism to get the better of you. It mutates into an uncontrollable hate – you at least acknowledge this feeling yourself – and you let it convince you of the ludicrous generalisations and exaggerations you put forward.

Your style betrays such a simplistic level of thinking – and a homophobia you should be ashamed of – that I suspect you are unaware of whose hands you are playing into. Your xenophobia fuels government soundbiting on “Muslims” and “the veil”, which often adds up to little more than demonisation and vote-grabbing from the far right. You are a pawn for media outlets who rely on your racism and your woeful ignorance to continue supporting the kind of aggressive rhetoric we get from The Sun, The Daily Mail and their ilk.

Rather than rant against “pakis”, you would be doing yourself a favour by opening up conversations, rather than shutting them down with abuse. And if you were to open your mind, you might find that the situation is not as simple as you think. The terror attacks in September 2001 against American soil, for example, were not part of a religious war, as the media would have you believe. Rather, they were a retaliation for US involvement in the Middle East, for a lack of American support for the Palestinian people, for funding Israeli aggression in the region, and for subverting other people’s democracies… the list goes on.

Your assumption that 9/11, furthermore, can be attributed to the whole of the Muslim community is patently ridiculous, but let me state that for the record anyway. Sure, some Muslims praised it, just as others condemned it. Some said it could be justified, whilst others said that it could be understood but not condoned. Opinions abound across the whole spectrum of possibilities, and can rarely be simplified or abbreviated.

Meanwhile, your wholehearted defence of British and American soldiers betrays the fact that you apparently don’t care that both countries have tarnished their names, by invading a country upon a false pretext, and in direct contravention of international law.

I should therefore be pleased to hear from you. You will find your racism, I think, very hard to defend.
