From The Paper That Used to be Left-Wing, but is now Right-Wing:
A British company has been closed down after being caught in an apparent attempt to sell black-market weapons-grade uranium to Iran and Sudan, The Observer can reveal.
Anti-terrorist officers and MI6 are now investigating a wider British-based plot allegedly to supply Iran with material for use in a nuclear weapons programme. One person has already been charged with attempting to proliferate ‘weapons of mass destruction’.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
This doesn’t get any better really, does it?
The media and the government caught with its pants down, big time! Suddenly, their agenda looks so hollow, so stupid, so shallow, so putrid, so transparently evil. Over and over again, it becomes clearer and clearer that the least guilty of all in this whole dirty game, are Muslims…
Hey, Martin Amis! Melanie Phillips! Ehud Olmert! George W. Bush! Johann Hari! Michelle Malkin! Bruce Willis! Harriet Harman! Ruth Kelly! Tessa Jowell! Gordon Brown! Winston racist-bastard Churchill! Tony Blair! Can you hear me Tony Blair?!! Your agenda took a hell of a beating!

Apparently, according to the uber reliable Prison Planet site Bruce Willis has seen the Light, realised what an arse he’s been and turned into a bit of Conspriloonâ„¢…

re. the Observer story – I’m not sure how much more blatant this managed push for another war needs to be before the bulk of people wake up. A week doesn’t pass by without some insane, unattributed war-mongering cack being printed in the so-called quality press. After the lies that paved the way for the invasion of Iraq no-one can honestly pretend that there’s any basis for believing this stuff. Or to believe that the British Press is independent from the kind of vested interests it claims to be keeping an eye on.
another great point well made, and I loved the norwegian commentary ref, hilarious!
Well, they might be right…
@mike
Yup, they may be but there’s the small issue of past form when it comes to reporting WMD stories.
There’s also the issue of over-elaboration when it comes to stories about Iran. There are so many stories about Iran being involved in this that or the other that, taken together, they smack of a co-ordinated anti-Iranian campaign. More than a little reminiscent of the bullshit spun in the run up to the attack on Iraq
On top of that if the Iranians really wanted nukes they could have picked up a few dozen ex Soviet models in the mid-90s for the price of a few Mercs. And they possibly did
And if they really did want to f^ck us up all they need to do is close down the Persian Gulf for a couple of weeks. No nukes required
and so on and so on
The newspapers helped lie us into two wars, that are still raging and taking God knows how many lives to no result, and they are now stoking us up for a third.
Forcible conscription of journalists in times of war might be the answer…
@Stef: Forcible gang-bumming of journalists when they make mistakes like they did over Iraq, where they were effectively the propaganda arm of an imperialist war machine, might be another answer…
Unfortunately a couple of the more notable war mongering journalists I have in mind are on record as liking that sort of thing. Each to their own IMHO bit there’s no point in actually rewarding them
Hi,
I’ve been reading your blog recently… and I couldn’t help mentioning that you would probably be very interested in this website forum.

I hope to see you there ;]
@Stef: What, with cracked bottles leaking napalm??
getting there…
trouble is that there are two types of people in the world
luckily you can go from type one to type two, but the type ones are still in that ‘it was in the papers/on tv so it must be true’ state of mind
then there’s those type twos, now these are radically different, conspiraloons who ask: “so was the intention to really sell this stuff, or was it to only appear as though that was the case ? or was it simply ‘any meme will do’ ?”
i’m guessing type two option b, but then i am a bit conspiraloony
Our media does seem to have a one-tracked mind these days…

FROM PROGRAMME PRODUCER KAVITA PURI
————————————————————
Hello,
Newsnight exclusive tonight:
We have an incredible interview with the former wife of a British
Muslim
extremist. She tells us how her husband tried to persuade her to carry
out a suicide attack in the UK. She explains in detail how her husband
showed her how to wear an explosive belt. We’ll be discussing how such
extremism can be tackled.
Iraq Inquiry
The Conservatives are calling for a full inquiry into the war in Iraq.
Gordon Brown, visiting Baghdad today, said it would be wrong to hold an
inquiry now while British troops are still serving in Iraq. We’ll be
debating the issue.
Iranian Influence in Afghanistan
A high tech “shaped” bomb has been found in Kabul today. These are
similar to the ones used in Iraq against Allied vehicles, and the
military say could come from Iran. Alastair Leithead reports from
Afghanistan on the extent of Iran’s influence in the country.
and remember, arming extremist insurgents is only a good thing to do when our governments are doing it…
