My sister’s Macbook hard drive went a few months ago, so I finally got around to taking it to the Apple Store in Brent Cross today.
Whilst there, I marvelled at the beautiful Macbook Air. There is something quite special about an Apple product launch. They don’t often release a product that won’t immediately rouse gadget-lust in not just the geek like me, but the masses.
I looked around and felt giddy in a landscape of utter coolness. I moved towards the Macbook Air, which I hadn’t yet touched. Today I did. I need to have one. And I need to have one very quickly indeed.
The funniest write-up I’ve seen on the Macbook Air can be found here.

Hi Shahid,
Enjoy your website.
As a British Pakistani I would like your opinion on Tim Woolas comments regarding birth defects within the Pakistani community due to first cousin marriages.
His call for action was also supported by Health Workers and Labour MP Ann Cryer who raised the issue two years ago after research showed British Pakistanis were 13 times more likely to have children with recessive disorders than the general population.
Mr Woolas has now been labelled a racist and Asghar Bukhari from the Muslim Public Affairs Committee said that Mr Woolas remarks ?verged on Islamphobia? and has asked Gordon Brown to back him or sack him.
My opinion is that if the research is correct then it should be debated in a sensitive and non judgemental manner that will benefit the community in the long term.
Do you think Phil Woolas was correct to raise this issue or should he have been more aware of cultural sensitivities and kept quiet?
Regards
Sean

Sean, this is a thread about the Macbook Air. Please post this comment in a more appropriate thread. I will be deleting your comment here in a day or two. I will be delighted to write a post on the matter at some point. In the meantime, I wonder if this opportunistic statement is a precursor to a ban on Muslims reproducing at some point. The hysteria of Islamophobia is a complete joke. It’s impossible to have a decent debate in an atmosphere of such ignorance and hatred.
Please also note that I’m not a “British Pakistani”. I’m a British Muslim.
Thanks for your kind comment at the beginning.
